Systems Engineer - Microsoft Business Intelligence Suite Administrator

Job Description

The Decision Support team manages and supports a variety of tools used for reporting and analytics by various areas within the company. Tools included are Microsoft’s Business Intelligence Suite, Golden Gate, Informatica, Crystal Enterprise and Reporting, and Business Objects.

The responsibilities of this position are to provide end user support, perform tool implementations and upgrades, provide accurate and timely problem resolution with root cause analysis, work with other areas of the organization such as Production Operations, the development community, and other technical groups to establish and improve processes and procedures related to the Business Intelligence and ETL infrastructure. Willingness to rotate 24x7 on call duties is essential. This candidate should also have excellent customer services skills and a strong willingness to learn new technologies.

Software Installations and Architecture

Software Upgrades

Service packs and hot fixes

Application maintenance(Custom Applications)

Performance issues with MS BI (Tuning.etc)

Adding and Removing Users

Access and privilege management

Publishing reports from dev to Prod

Publishing UDM from Dev to Prod

Create shared schedules

Taking care of Report failures

Trouble shooting issues with full client and web based tools

Trouble shooting issues based on the server installation

Documents and other resources to the users within project scope

Responsible for the system to be up and running 24/7(Support)

Benchmarking

Suggestions to create better report design and translation of business requirements to technology

Part of creating custom Applications

Required Skills

Understanding of Business Intelligence concepts

Understanding of Windows and Unix technologies

Experience with at least one scripting language (i.e. Shell, Perl, or Visual Basic)

Experience with Apache Tomcat

Must be able to learn new tools and technologies quickly

Strong problem solving skills

Highly organized and detail oriented; ability to multi-task

Strong communication and interaction skills; both oral and written

Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

Willing to be part of 24x7 on call rotation

Ability to work under little supervision

Provides concise documentation of work

Highly motivated

Team-oriented

Required Experience

Experience with Microsoft’s Business Intelligence Suite using SQL Server 2005 (ProClarity, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services)

Experience with Golden Gate
