Systems Network Design Engineer

This position can be in any US Sun location This position is in SunIT CTO, Network Services. Individual Contributor will be responsible for evaluating and trialing technology solutions from 3rd party vendors. The results of the evaluation and/or trial will be documented and posted for review. This position is responsible for creating SunIT Voice and Data Network strategy and architecture documents and steering these documents through the SunIT approval process. Working with cross functional teams, the candidate will serve as an in-house consultant on voice and data networking.  Experience with product life cycle processes and applications security. 10 years experience * Deep knowledge of voice and data networking to include Voice over IP * Must have hands on experience architecting voice and data networks * Must have experience with network security * Must be able to lead, influence, and work with cross functional teams * Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision * Must have a broad exposure to IT, and knowledge of two or more IT functions including, but not limited to, Operating systems installation, support and administration; systems infrastructure support and architecture; application middleware installation, and datacenter operations. * Excellent written, verbal, analytical and interpersonal skills * Excellent problem solving skills * Capability to multi-task * Demonstrated leadership, planning and networking skills PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Solaris, Linux, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, ethernet, Wireless, and directory services.
