SKILLS AND COMPETENCIESBSCE/BSEE or some College with an emphasis on network product-related technology5+ years technical support of external customers with respect to Ethernet LAN technology  Working knowledge of TCP/IP routing and subnetting and familiarity with IEEE Ethernet standards inclluding 802.3 and 802.11 Familiarity with serial and wireless communications and major OS (DOS, Win, UNIX/LINUX) will be essentialBeing able to be remain positive while dealing with customers or complex product-related issues will be an important traitUse your strong verbal and written communication skills to resolve issues quickly, to provide for a proper solution, and to build the relationshipMust be able to work in a team environment when advanced technical issues arise with a customerHaving the ability to manage and support multiple product lines will be necessaryKnowing how to respond to customers, on their level, with insight to their specific needs, will be the most crucial element of this positionHaving experience using a CRM, although not an absolute must, will be a very big plus

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIESUse your Ethernet LAN technology to resolve customer technical issues by responding to technical support requests (installation, configuration, and troubleshooting) via phone, fax, email, or  webShow your professionalism by properly prioritizing requests, logging cases into the tracking system, finding the problem's root cause - not just the symptom, determining the right solution, and closing the case with a satisfied customerKeep on top of your game by staying abreast of new product introductions, competitive products, new technology, new methodologies, and technology standardsDemonstrate your knowledge by developing FAQs for the Web, reviewing product documentation for accuracy, and ease of use, and recognizing reoccurring problems as early as possibleKeep management and team informed regarding escalation activity, modifications to process, and RMA activity
