Test Chip Logistics Manager

Background

Within ARM, the IT Operations Group provides support for UNIX infrastructure and underlying technologies.

 

Purpose

There is an opportunity to become a member of the IT Operations infrastructure team within ARM. This group is responsible for ensuring the availability and smooth running of ARM’s computing infrastructure along with the development of this infrastructure.

 

Role

The role consists of primarily support and management of general UNIX infrastructure and our LSF UNIX Compute cluster resource. The role’s main responsibilities will consist of performing the day to day tasks that are associated with maintaining this infrastructure and working on the proactive development of it. You will also be required to answer IT and user queries to undertake problem solving/troubleshooting, hardware installation, software installation and systems administration tasks as well as some project work. 

 

Technical Specification

·  Relevant degree or at least 3 years computing experience

·  Must have strong Solaris and Redhat Enterprise experience

·  Knowledge of pxe, Kick-start, jumpstart technologies

·  System configuration tools experience, such as cfEngine or Puppet etc

·  Working knowledge of Up2date, yum, Solaris patch management

·  Understanding of NIS, LDAP (Sun Iplanet)

·  Knowledge of Solaris, Hewlett Packard and IBM Hardware

·  Knowledge of SSH, RSH, SCP, NFS, CRON and SAMBA

·  Strong Shell script, Perl, TCL, C scripting skills

·  Knowledge of Exceed and Exceed on demand, XDMCP, desirable

·  Working knowledge of networking protocols and technologies (DNS,DHCP,VLANS, Networking bonding (aka multi pathing, network teaming)

·  Strong troubleshooting skills

 

Desirable Skills

·  Skills in MYSQL, Apache, Knowledge of windows platforms, clustering technologies, knowledge of platform LSF or Sun gridengine clustering technologies, kernel tuning/modification

·  System monitoring background using Nagios / Ganglia

·  Windows server, Exchange 2003 and Sendmail support experience is a plus
