Job Description:
The Tier III Field Office Sr. Systems Engineer leads all IT projects for 42+ field offices located throughout the United States. This position is a technical hands-on role in support of network, server, crypto, desktop, and application systems, including space management functions. Functions include leading the build-out of new field offices; installation and configuration of new circuits, servers and applications; and providing Tier III support for Operations personnel. The Engineer must participate in the development and enforcement of company IT Standards, Policies and Procedures, and develop and update technical documentation.
Responsibilities:
• Working closely with general contractors, cable installers, and space management personnel to ensure that all IT needs are addressed as part of new field office
build-outs.
• Apply solid problem-solving techniques consistent with an advanced knowledge of technical and operational issues involving the Windows Server OS variants.
• Independently design and implement processes, seeking appropriate buy-in from affected stakeholders and audience.
• Work closely with other systems architects and project managers to develop, plan and implement system enhancements and upgrades.
• Collaborate with client, server and other internal/external teams to identify support and technology advancements.
• Train and mentor team members using advanced product knowledge.
• Provide clear, concise, and customized documentation that is appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Must have current and valid TS clearance
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 5-8 years experience in a technical systems support role supporting WAN connectivity.
• Server hardware and software building and trouble-shooting.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory, Exchange 2003, Microsoft Clustering, IIS, Windows XP.
• Experience with IP, DHCP, WINS, DNS, Subnets, SMTP, Anti-virus, GPO’s, and Microsoft Security.
• Advance knowledge of file system management, access control and directory organization
• Must be able to read and edit architectural drawings
• Proven writing/communication skills
• Proven organizational skills
• Extensive troubleshooting experience
• Must be comfortable working with many different groups, inside and outside of IS, to help solve business problems
• The ability to pro-actively learn through the use of documentation and web based resources like forums, vendor publications and knowledge bases.
• Available to participate in 24 x 7 support, off hours and occasional weekend work
