UNIX System Administrator

The ability to plan and perform UNIX system administration is required.  Experience in Sun clustering, other advanced Sun/UNIX functions, and Solaris 8 or 10.  Ability to configure, analyze, and troubleshoot a clustered Sun enterprise using SMC and other tools is required.  Familiarity with Solaris 8, NFS, BIND, and SNMP is required.  Familiarity with Windows 2003, XP is required.  Familiarity with LAN architecture and functionality is required.  Customer interface skills are required for fielding, diagnosing, and resolving problems related to DoD missions, systems, interfaces, software and equipment.  Must be able to work in a mission-oriented environment centered on mission availability and quick response to customer requirements.  Excellent communications skills are required when interacting with mission operations and hardware maintenance personnel, and when documenting system/procedure/process related problems.

The candidate will perform System Administration tasks as they relate to the Strategic Threat Analysis and Reporting System (STARS) in support of USSTRATCOM at Offutt, AFB. Administer Sun Cluster 3.0, Sun Enterprise Systems, which includes Sun Enterprise 4800/V880/E420/E280 servers, Sun Ultra 10s, and Sun Blade 100 workstations.  Administer Sun T3-based SANs, StorageTek L180s, HP/Compaq Domain Controllers, and HP/Compaq PC Workstations.  Use Veritas/Symantec Volume Manager to manage Sun T3 SAN disk arrays in RAID 5/1 configurations.  Use Veritas NetBackup/Symantec to perform disaster recovery via an L-180 Tape Library.  Manage Windows 2003, XP, Administrators Blade Servers, active directory, HP Winsight, Domain Security, and DNS.  Troubleshoot STARS system problems.  Plan, documents coordinate, and follows procedures related to the day-to-day administration of the STARS.  Minimum of three years experience in Sun/UNIX/Windows systems administration and one year experience in Cisco network administration. Position requires shift work and may require 12-hour shift schedule.
