UNIX Systems Administrator II

As a member of the UNIX team, the UNIX Systems Administrator II will perform Solaris systems installations and provide systems administration support. Under minimal supervision, you will be responsible for using Solaris Jumpstart for automated system deployments as well as upgrading existing systems to Solaris 10. You will be a key contributor in the effort to consolidate servers and increase power efficiency throughout MedImpacts data centers. This position also processes and responds customer requests via Salesforce in a timely manner. Ability to work well in a team environment consisting of system administrators for UNIX, Windows, Networks, and Security Works with under minimal direction on all tasks that can vary in size from small daily tasks to larger projects. Provides regular progress reports to management Basic knowledge of Jumpstart including upgrades Administers Apache and Tomcat Basic automation of administration tasks with shell scripting Follows established change management processes Maintains established standards on systems, software, storage, etc Participates in the on-call work rotation with the system administrator team. 4 years experience with the Solaris operating system Experience with Sun hardware maintenance 1 year experience with various UNIX scripting languages Bourne Korn Perl Customer service excellence is an absolute must Knowledge of work request management, tracking, and updating tickets when complete.Four year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Mathematics, or a related field or a combination of education and related experience.
