A little about Ambric... we are a fables semiconductor company with a twist – we have developed a revolutionary programmable IC platform able to avoid some of the well-known pitfalls of a FPGA while providing all the benefits of an ASIC. We are developing video codecs that take advantage of the high speed and programmability of our hardware platform. Ambric is seeking a motivated and self-directed Video Encoder Architect to design codec applications for our revolutionary multiprocessor architecture. Successful candidates will have experience with the H.264 video standard, excellent design and development skills, and a thorough understanding of Java or C++. Responsibilities: Work as a member of a small team to create new high performance video codecs for Ambric’s multiprocessor technology. Responsible for full lifecycle development of the application including specification, design, task estimation, coding, debugging, documentation and support. Write unit tests and automated test programs for to help validate the application.  Qualifications: Minimum 5 years experience developing high quality, high performance video compression encoders including h.264 An appreciation of the trade-offs between temporal and spatial prediction in their many forms, and transform coding efficiency and the resulting impact to bit rate and picture quality A theoretical understanding and practical experience employing Lagrangian rate-distortion optimization for encoding mode decisions Prior experience developing rate control algorithms Practical experience with objective and subjective picture quality evaluation techniques, and their applications to encoder design according to scientific method Previous experience with multi-core or multiprocessor environments is a definite plus. Experience developing multithreaded applications in Java or C++ A thorough understanding of object oriented development. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience with Eclipse framework is a plus Knowledge of CVS, Subversion or other revision control system Familiar with Bugzilla or other defect tracking tool. Desire to be part of a highly productive, dynamic team Experience with the build tools and unit-test frameworks is a plus Previous experience in an Agile development environment is a plus.  Education: BSCS or equivalentExperience: 5+ years in a video codec development Ambric is an Equal Opportunity Employer.See Job Description
