Purpose: As a Technical Architect (DBA), you will provide technical leadership in the analysis, decision-making, design, and support phases of application development, support, or infrastructure projects as a SQL Server DBA in the Distributed Database group. Consider enterprise wide technical implications to technical solutions. Incorporate TTS project management processes to ensure each implementation functions at its highest potential. Works with clients to solidify technical and infrastructure requirements, track milestones related to technical infrastructure and manage issues and risks. See Yourself: Contributing to project success by providing technical leadership on assigned projects Directing current system and platform analysis and leveraging that information for design decisions Evaluating and anticipating impact of technical solutions on related projects Developing the detailed solution or design primarily for mid-sized to large projects Writing technical specifications Translating technical solutions based on clients needs and feasibility Evaluating vendor products and preparing recommendations Ensuring solutions are of high quality, high performance, and scalable Creating and following technical standards and best practices including leveraging repeatable processes and deliverables Understanding interrelationships and impacting of systems and applications upon the enterprise wide technical environment Staying current with technology and determining the impact of hardware and/or software upgrades on new and existing applications Participating in project planning, estimating and costing Providing project knowledge and expertise to the TTS organization Communicating project status to all interested parties and ensuring team stays on track to satisfy client expectations Identifying and escalating issues and, when necessary, pulls appropriate teams together to solve challenge/issue/etc. Prioritizing workload and accomplishing assignments on time, ensuring deliverables are high quality Preparing and conducting technical instruction and mentoring for team members and contractors Ensuring system documentation is complete per TTS standards Completing all administration in a timely and quality manner Area Specific Duties and Responsibilities Development Gathering technical specifications from project team, Enterprise Architecture, and Infrastructure Design team, fully understanding requirements to ensure a high quality database solution is produced Providing technical database expertise in supporting application projects and development processes (requirements, design, spec, code, test, deploy, and turnover); Performing problem analysis, identifying root causes, outlining resolution options Laying out the design of how applications and systems should work from a technical perspective, and quickly identifying and resolving design flaws early in design life cycle Understanding application flow (data, logic, etc) in order to be a key problem solver (performance, production issues and development) Aligning application team, infrastructure team(s) and the enterprise architecture team Developing test cases/plans to verify successful implementation of system enhancements Responsible for leading team in completion of standard development documentation and processes Providing support (including off hours as needed) of assigned applications through turn over Infrastructure Providing technical leadership in platform break/fix support (ID problem, resolve). Providing technical leadership in executing infrastructure projects and processes (requirements, design, review, build). Growing role in Idea/concept phase. Receding role in other project phases Leadership in infrastructure strategic planning (POC planning, business and technology trends). Growing role in strategic planning, innovation and technology mapping Providing expertise in infrastructure hardware and software evaluation, selection and implementation Working with development teams as single point of contact to advise application technical architecture direction and design solutions that meet development and infrastructure requirements Demonstrating growing infrastructure technical breadth, financial and business knowledge. Maintains technical depth Support Acting as a consultant in database design and issue resolution Providing subject matter expertise for critical database applications Proactively identifies potential issues and implements solutions before business impact occurs Recommending projects or stability efforts to be completed across multiple applications Setting priority and schedule for production system enhancements and fixes Providing technical mentoring to others Remaining current with technology trendsJob Requirements :Minimum Requirements: 4-year college degree Five years application development, technical support or implementation experience in database management systems, specifically Microsoft SQL Server.
