Accounting Clerk

Internet America, Inc. is a leading regional Internet Service Provider in the southwestern United States, with operations based in Houston, Texas.  We pride ourselves on providing our customers with an easy and enjoyable internet experience.  Internet America signed its first subscriber in January 1995 and by the end of 2006 had over 37,000 subscribers.  Currently, we are seeking an Accounting Clerk for our Houston office. 

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for accounts receivable and payroll and performs professional accounting activities. This position requires a self-motivated, hard working individual that demonstrates excellent follow through skills. Candidates must have a working knowledge of general ledger and account reconciliations.

 

Description of Primary Duties:

· Obtain proper authorization of invoices for payment

· Code invoices to proper GL account number including allocation across departments

· Data entry of payables and processing of weekly check runs

· Record daily revenue activity in General Ledger

· Assist with month end account reconciliations

· Knowledge of intercompany transactions

· Assist in quarterly and year end audits

· Perform other accounting/office tasks as required

· Payroll time sheet entry

 

Qualifications:

· 2 years of experience in accounting (General Ledger)

· High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred

· Proficiency in QuickBooks

· Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

· Payroll experience

· Strong data entry skills, with great accuracy and attention to detail

· A candidate with previous experience as a bank teller may excel in this position
