Job Category:Accounting Director Primary Location:USA-VA: VIRGINIA-FALLS CHURCHSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Regular Employee Status:Regular Yes, 50 % of the Time Job Posting: 04/25/2008Description: CSC's Corporate Consolidation and Reporting Department in Falls Church, VA is searching for an Accounting Director - Technical Accounting as a result of CSC's Corporate Office relocation from El Segundo, CA to Falls Church, VA!The Accounting Director - Technical Accounting will provide technical accounting support to the Controller's office and the business units in the application of U.S. GAAP.Ref4449Essential Job Functions Provides technical accounting support for significant transactions Reviews the application of revenue recognition guidance for new and existing contracts Drafts accounting policies for new accounting pronouncements and ensure that existing policies reflect current accounting guidance Assists in the education of business unit personnel in the application of U.S. GAAP, including the preparation of training materials Assists in the preparation of SEC filings as well as the preparation of financial information Basic Qualifications Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Master's degree in related field preferred Fourteen or more years of related experience Nine or more years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity included Big Four national office or regional office experience providing U.S. GAAP technical accounting support preferred CPA required Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software Experience researching and resolving complex technical accounting issues for both U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting Experience working with concepts, practices, and procedures in areas of responsibility Experience working with management implications of various forms of financial data Broad and deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP Knowledge of SEC rules and requirements Knowledge of international financial reporting standards a plus Other Qualifications Strong communication skills needed to interface with high-level customer representatives Strong strategic management and planning skills Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with accountants, clients, and upper management Strong analytical and problem solving skills Good presentation skills for educating internal clients on accounting principles Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work Ability to research complex technical accounting issues and communicate the results of the research both orally and in writing Ability to understand complex transactions and apply the accounting rules to these transactions Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to interact with all levels of management both in the Corporate office as well as with the business units Ability to publicly represent company with internal and external clients Ability to use own judgment and initiative in problem resolution Must be willing to travel during the period of knowledge transfer from El Segundo, CA to Falls Church, VA Remote Work Location Authorized:No Relocation Assistance:Not AvailableClearance Level:None Create Success
