View all Sungard Availability Services jobs Accounting Manager, Tax and Compliance / FA4744 Position Description:The incumbent will be responsible for SunGard Availability Services North American lines of business to ensure financial statements are prepared in accordance with general accounting principles and proper tax reporting of all business transactions returns to include preparation and/or review of work papers and supporting documentation, extraction of information from accounting systems, analysis documentation of book vs. tax differences, and calculation of tax basis of all assets/liability of book vs. tax differences, and calculation of tax basis and of all assets/liabilities. The incumbent will also manage Sarbanes-Oxley process and reporting.• Responsible for Sales Tax to include: VAT (Value Added Tax) and GST (Goods and Services Tax-Canada), QST.• Evaluating Nexus and registering where necessary• Evaluation Implication of legal entity restructures, new acquisitions, businesses newly integrated into Availability Services as well as taxability of customer contracts. • GAAP Accounting resource within Business Unit• Manage the Sarbanes Oxley internal control process within AS North America. This includes managing the staff assigned to perform quarterly testing. Insure the functional owners maintain current process documentation and adhere to the agreed upon process and controls.• Manage the third part resources currently completing personal property tax returns and sales and use tax returns.• Review of Sales Tax Returns and ensure all Tax Returns are files as appropriate• Manage Sales Tax audits• Train staff on Sales Tax Rules• Take lead in sales tax automation project• Establish policies and procedures with respect to sales tax decisions/communications• Assist Corporate Tax Department, Corporate Treasury, and prepare Corporate Tax package• Annual Property Tax Reports• Prepare and file Franchise Tax and other Returns• Federal /State tax payments/accruals• Coordination of Opening Balance Sheet Entries for New Acquisitions• Assistance w/eliminating legal entitiesQualifications:Excellent overall Tax and Compliance abilities to manage strategic tax and tactical responsibilities of a $2B Global Corporation. The incumbent should be experienced within tax filings, audits, upgrades within automation and regulations to perform at the highest level of efficiency while meeting the strict deadlines of the accounting cycle. This would include excellent analytical and problem solving skills. These skills should include the ability to develop and train accounting staff. The incumbent must follow Policies and procedures to include record retention coordination and the preparation of Insurance Renewal Information. The incumbent will work independently and will be required to be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and pro-active. Required Experience/Skills and Competencies/Knowledge:• College Degree preferred but will consider applicants with equivalent work-related experience with a minimum educational requirement of a H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent. • Experienced within a large company as an Accounting Manager/Supervisor. • Experience with all aspects of U.S. Income tax compliance and reporting.• Experience with Sarbanes Oxley process and reporting• Experienced within VAT, GST and QST.• Minimum of six (6) years work experience within Accounting.• Proficiency in Excel and other Accounting Systems to include Sales & Use Tax Software applications.• CPA-Firm Audit Experience.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• 4-year Accounting Degree• CPA Preferred Experience/Skills and Competencies/Knowledge:• Previous Tax Treasury Experience is a plus.• Hyperion a plus• Exacting deadline achievement, heavy use of in/out bound e-mail and telephone, and all means of communication necessary to achieve deadlines and information flow.• Travel if required would be a minimum of approximately 10% by ground or air transportation within the U.S. SUNGARD IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER, M/F/D/V
