Analyst II

The Analyst II will be given responsibility for design, planning and small-team management of assigned development efforts.  Such efforts occur in analyst-led teams, with the analyst responsible for coordination between the assigned programmer, assigned tester, and the customer.  Specific Duties:• Work directly with system end users to determine application requirements and analyze program specifications. • Evaluate user requests for redesign or upgrades of existing software. • Coordinate closely with assigned programmer and tester to ensure task completion within scheduled time limits and design specifications. • Generate design documentation for software development.  Documentation will emphasize: • Platform specification analysis • Identification of critical assumptions and / or constraints • GUI design • Relational database design/redesign (as needed) • Help documentation • Convert project specifications into detailed algorithms for coding. • Provide support for the installation, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the hardware/software to support application functions. • Generate and perform QA checks on system documentation (Users Manuals, Training Manuals, system orientation briefings, etc.) used to convey system capabilities to end users. • Support product briefings and demonstrations as necessary to support customer and internal corporate requirements. • Conduct research and document findings relating to future development alternatives and enhanced system features. • Periodically prepare and conduct system testing as needed. • Other duties as assigned.Bachelors Degree or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience are required. Additional Requirements:• Ability to successfully complete the Stanley Background Investigation to include; 50 State Criminal, Education, Employment, Credit and Driving Records Checks for continued employment. • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance is required for continued employment; US Citizenship is required. • Ability to travel up to 25% or less. • Ability to apply formal procedures through all stages of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). • Basic knowledge of SQL. • Knowledge of system design techniques, including database design, functional specifications, testing procedures/documentation, etc. • Good interpersonal skills. • Ability to write unambiguous and detailed design specifications easily understandable by peers and managers. • Ability to communicate effectively orally, through informal conversations, in meetings; as well as through presentations; and in writing through e-mails and memos. • Ability to plan and prioritize work. Physical Demands:The majority of position requirements will be performed within a professional office environment.  However, travel evolutions can require the individual to lift and move computer and other equipment of approximately 50 lbs in weight.  Position may require bending, kneeling, or crawling to get to cables under and behind furniture.Work Environment:Work environment is typically indoors, and will be at a Stanley Associates site. However, certain travel and system deployment/implementation evolutions may be conducted in remote or austere physical environments.  Certain operations may require 24 hour support.  Accordingly, individuals may be assigned to work during non-routine shifts.Preferred:• Previous experience in U.S. Army logistics and/or with AWRDS is a plus. • GUI design experience. • Experience with CMMI or LEAN a plus.
