Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Analyst Programmer (Competency Level 2) position with Enterprise Computing Services in Corvallis.

This position provides analysis and programming support for administrative information systems. This position functions within a team-based management environment. The incumbent works with administrators and users developing reports, procedures and interfaces with other systems. This position designs and codes modifications and enhancements to vendor supplied software.

 

Minimum Qualifications

This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor's degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.  

 

Additional Required Qualifications

This position requires strong skills in relationship building, personal initiative, and thorough analysis and design work with customers. Work experience using online computing systems, training in structured techniques, and basic desktop computer software is required. SQL, PL/SQL or SQR experience, or COBOL or C programming experience is required.

The employee needs well developed interpersonal, team work, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively use these skills in the analysis and design of business solutions.

Employee will be using a PC workstation most of the time. Employee may occasionally be required to work unusual hours or periods of time as needed to maintain the University operating schedule.  

 

Preferred Qualifications

Due to the complexity of the computing and business systems involved in this position, college level training in Business and/or Computer Science is highly desirable. DEC VMS, Unix, Oracle RDBMS, SunGard Banner experience is desirable.

Positions Duties

40% - Participate in the implementation of vendor supplied software and custom applications. This includes but is not limited to: Interviewing of customers to determine requirements, Analyze, design, code and document interfaces between Banner and other existing and new systems, Design an implementation strategy that is consistent with the overall project plan, Document production processing and schedules

40% - Participate in the enhancement and modification of vendor supplied software and custom applications. This includes but is not limited to: Providing the analysis, design, and code for enhancements necessary for business processes. Developing and enhancing reports and screens using Oracle, SQR, SQL, C, COBOL and other products. Develop and modify administrative application systems.

15% - Research the latest releases of vendor supplied software, identify improvements and opportunities to implement baseline functionality. Maintain a relationship with the customer that encourages consideration and discussions toward implementing baseline.

5% - Participate as a member of the Administrative Computing team. Time spent attending meetings, participating in team decision making, implementing solutions to team problems as well as assisting with other team functions. Consult with peers. Other duties as assigned.
