Application Developer/Database Administrator
Summary: Bell Industries Inc. requires an Application Developer with a minimum of 2-3 years of web based application development. The incumbent will provide technical support for HP’s Asset Center product for the purpose of providing ongoing support for asset management activities. The Applications Developer supports the objectives of the customer and Bell support team as outlined in Service Level Agreements in the contract between Bell Industries and our customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Analyze, design, develop, implement and provide ongoing maintenance of business systems for the client.Interface with business units to understand application needs and develop web business systems to support business initiatives.Properly gather requirements and, set the scope and timelines for application development and enhancements in order to meet completion deadlines.Oversee the change control processes for applications meeting the requirements of both Bell and the client. Follow approved processes.Coordinate the analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of business systems and business processes with client and Bell teams. Apply business best practices where applicableProvide technical support and administration of the customer’s Asset Tracking System including configuration, testing and application upgrades, data base optimization, implementation of changes per established change control processes and, monitor and ensures successful completion of batch processing. Set client expectations regarding deliverables, timing, and how the business approach matches their needs. Deliver service in a timely manner with minimal disruption to the client. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key decision makers, peers, internally and with the client to understand their business objectives and practices, and ensure effective coordination in delivery of business systems to client. Be committed to continually improving client service. Work with Bell management to facilitate the delivery of sound business solutions in order to increase client productivity and profitability. Prepare weekly status reports for delivery to client and Bell management.
Requirements: Requires 2-3 years of rapid application development experience, including proficiency in creating optimized queries and complex SQL DTS packages and Oracle.Required technologies include Cold Fusion, ASP, XML and SQL Server 2000 proficiency. Knowledge and/or experience with Perl, Java, PHP and SOAP a plus.Possesses the ability to manage the development life cycle from conception to testing and deployment for large scale web applications.Experience with HPs Asset Center product preferred. Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid changeDemonstrates the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands and tasks. Outstanding interpersonal, listening, communication, presentation and organizational skills.The ability to effectively work and team with clients at all levels including management personnel.Meet or exceed all contractual SLA’s relative to the performance of the Bell service team.Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
