Application Implementation Specialist
SUMMARY:The Applications Implementation Specialist, working with guidance from an Application Implementation Analyst and under the direction of the Applications Development Manager. Has responsibility for activities pertaining to preparation of system and end-user documentation, functional training, testing, and end-user assistance for custom and commercial software implemented by the firm's Information Management (IM) group.The Specialist shall1) train attorneys and staff at the client company in the use of commercial and custom software consistent with firm practices, processes, and supporting resources;2) prepare class training and online help materials;3) perform system testing, user interface evaluations, and other tasks intended to assure that software meets quality and usability objectives;4) create user and system documentation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:The Applications Implementation Specialist will have responsibility for ensuring that firm personnel receive comprehensive, effective, and timely training to enable them to effectively use the systems and applications that the client has developed, acquired, or customized. This position has global training responsibility ' courses will need to be delivered to personnel in virtually all of the firm's offices. The ability to conduct training effectively using distance learning and web- or video-based technologies is extremely important. On occasion, travel to US and possibly Europe or Asia may be necessary for periods of up to one week.Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Deliver instruction to firm personnel in the use of selected software applications, primarily but not limited to those applications developed or customized by the firm's IM staff. Instruction may include in-classroom, web- or video-conference, special desk-side training/support for certain individuals, or other media/formats as technology evolves. Plan, design, develop and maintain 1) class training materials, 2) quick reference guides, 3) full user documentation, 4) Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), 4) on-line asynchronous and synchronous learning materials, initially using TutorPro, Camtasia, or PowerPoint, and 5) additional instructional or informative documents as required. Plan, develop, and maintain class schedules and manage requests for training. When project phases demand implementation support, assist end users by helping resolve problems that require an advanced skill set (i.e., problems that cannot be handled by the firm's User Support Center). Educate User Support Center and other IT staff to advance their knowledge of the products in use at the client and improve their effectiveness as first or second level support resources. Work on special projects that may require certain expertise in advanced functions of firm standard applications Assume other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Specialist's supervisor. In addition to training and documentation responsibilities, the Specialist will conduct and document results of software function testing in accordance with test plans prepared by the software development team. The Specialist will also conduct follow-up interviews or surveys with users following system implementation for the purpose of determining whether enhancements, bug fixes, or new features are necessary. He/she will collect, organize, and document interviews/surveys, and coordinate with software project teams to plan system changes. The Specialist may also be asked to participate in requirements gathering, system planning, or other activities within the software development cycle that are consistent with his/her other responsibilities.REQUIRED SKILLS:This position requires extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Outlook, Visio, and iManage, which are used to create software documentation and to prepare training materials. Candidate should have experience conducting both in-class and web-based training classes with remote attendees. He/She should be comfortable using WebEx, LiveMeeting, or a similar product for conducting interactive remote training classes.Experience with Camtasia Studio or similar multimedia content orchestration tools in a learning environment and with learning management systems (LMS) for class scheduling will be considered a plus. This position requires excellent organization and presentation abilities. Candidate must be detail-oriented, able to work independently as well as part of a team, and be dedicated to customer satisfaction.EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:A Bachelors Degree is preferred. Candidate should have a minimum of three years of experience providing computer applications training or preparing documentation.LANGUAGE SKILLS:The candidate should have exceptional English writing skills, and experience applying those skills to technical or software documentation. Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally with lawyers and staff.
