Application System Support Engineer

SCOPE:
These candidates must have solid knowledge of SQL Database (2000 & 2005), Networking, and Web servers.

The day to day duties include general support of 2 & 3 tier applications (Mostly Microsoft technology).

If the applications are running slow - this candidate will have to find out why the applications are running slow on either the network, database, or webservers.

POSITION SUMMARY:
This individual will support various platforms (hardware, operating systems, software, and systems tools).

Provide consultation and direct technical support in life cycle planning, problem management, integration, and systems programming. Implement releases, upgrades, and/or changes into the environment. Ensure platform performance and availability meet enterprise objectives through monitoring, timely service restoration, and tuning.

Duties may include capacity planning, workload modeling, system maintenance/ administration, and diagnostics.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Technical diagnosis, investigation, problem reproduction, and resolution of technical problem cases.

Provide Application Support according to specifications that meet the needs of the enterprise. Perform extensive research, analysis, and troubleshoot complex issues.

Conduct personal research, learning, and experimentation in order to improve the technical process. Periodic case summaries and participation in conference calls and internal meetings for high priority cases.

Monitor overall production system status and alert necessary individual in the event of an unplanned event. Provide secure production environment with data and process integrity.

Document business processes and communicate potential business and systems impacts based on analysis of the data. Identify data and data sources required for the fulfillment of a solution.

Extensively write and update use cases and work flow diagrams for effective plans. Determine impacts on applications based on changes to the business requirements.

Serve as a Liaison between Business and IT Groups. Administer production server configuration, server system services, business services, Component group and server components, server tasks, event logging, component requests, system security, and workflow management.

Maintain escalation contacts and procedure for all production components. Report on production system health to appropriate departments at scheduled intervals.

Schedules and stages production run requests according to procedures and program dependencies listed in system documentation to ensure the security and integrity of production data Researches production job status to determine the successful completion or the status of the production job using appropriate software applications.

Performs migration of new programs and/or changes from the test environment to production using appropriate software applications and perform impact analysis of all proposed changes prior to implementing change.

Sets up and submits new job information to the existing job list schedule and job calendar and notifies manager that it is ready for production.

Assembles data outputs with other materials for subsequent processing; reviews system message log when abnormal endings occur; initiates action required to re-process aborted or incorrect jobs.

Required Skills:
3+ years of Systems Analysis Experience.

3+ years with Relational Databases(SQL-Server 2000 & 2005).

3+ years with SQL and T-SQL.

2+ years of Microsoft IIS, or other Web Servers.

2+ years of .NET Experience.

Project life cycle development experience.

Strong willingness to document processes and issues, and attention to detail in the resolution or implementation of tasks
Application design, including front-end and back-end processing.

Application test planning and test execution.
