Applications Deployment and Quality Assurance Engineer

Gordon & Rees LLP,  a growing financial district law firm, currently has an excellent opportunity in our San Francisco office for an Applications Deployment and Quality Assurance Engineer.

 

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support in all stages of firm application customization, integration, testing, deployment, advanced support and administration as required by the business and practice areas of the firm.  This position also provides second level application support to helpdesk and end user communities.



Skill Requirements:

 

- Minimum of five years experience with application administration, application design, implementation, support and troubleshooting in distributed multi-office environment.

- Extensive and advanced experience with Microsoft products and networking in an Active Directory environment, including group policy objects, scripting .

- Advanced experience with Microsoft operating systems including working knowledge of the registry and group policy.

- Experience creating desktop images utilizing Microsoft, Ghost and other imaging technologies.

- Proficient with application customization, deployment, integration and advanced troubleshooting, specifically Microsoft Office 2003 or greater, .

- MSI package creation and automated application distribution using multiple means, including SMS, AD, scripting and group policy objects.

- Citrix Presentation Server 4.x or greater application installation and advanced support.

- Proficient with Visual Basic Scripting and other related scripting languages.

- Experience with basic infrastructure tools and software, including WSUS, VMWare (virtual server and desktop).

- Experience with professional services Document Management Systems and software client configurations and integrations preferred. Interwoven (iManage) experience a plus.

- Experience supporting and delivering applications for mobile devices including Blackberry and Microsoft devices.

 

Other Requirements:

 

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Sciences, or a related programming field or a minimum of five years comparable experience.

- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.

- Responsive and customer service oriented.

- Highly self-motivated and directed.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

- Capable of learning large, complex applications in a short time frame.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and possess creative problem solving skills.

- Experience working in Professional Services environment. Law firm experience a big plus.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

- Provide on going application administration, including regular maintenance and version upgrade.

- Provide WSUS, Trend Antivirus and Citrix installation and administration.

- Develop and maintain operations manuals, documentations, procedures and instructions relating to application and its hosting environment.

- Participate in all stages of application evaluation, testing, customization and implementation.

- Develop and maintain MSI packages. Manage package sources and distribution using SMS.

- Collaborate with other developers and software architects, including vendors & contractors (when appropriate) for optimal solutions.

- Develop, document, implement and maintain automated scripts and tools for extra features and improvements, as well as for application integration and distribution.

- Participate in 24x7 production support on-call rotation.

- Develop system test plans, ensure software quality assurance standards are achieved, and validate that business goals are accomplished.

- Complete projects/tasks on a timely basis, according to commitments made to co-workers and management.

- Report project/task status to the appropriate Development Manager and/or CIO on a weekly basis (at minimum).
