Assistant System Administrator

TransCore, a subsidiary of Roper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) is seeking an Assistant Systems Administrator based from Clifton Forge, VA. 

 

The Assistant System Administrator:

 Assists in the management of the phone system including VOIP and an IVR system. Is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining workstations, laptops and servers, including web servers with various operating systems (including Windows XP and Windows Server 2003).Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages. Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Ensures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations. Supports media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services. Develops and promotes standard operating procedures. Conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configurations as defined by Customer.

 

 

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

 Proven ability to install, configure, upgrade and maintain PC- compatible systems, printers, and multiple hardware/software configurations.  Experience managing a VIOP phone system (IVR and ACD).Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.2+ years of relevant IT experience (in a call center or operations environment preferred).Strong organizational skills to manage multiple task and detailed projects simultaneously.Flexible, energetic, with strong diagnostic and analytical skills.Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff.Ability to work well in a dynamic, fast-paced, changing environment.Person who seeks variety in daily task and schedule.Relevant certifications preferred (A+ and/or Network certifications)Ability to work varied and flexible hours.  This position requires an on-call responsibility, and will possibly require work after hours/weekends as well as some travel.
