Associate Software Engineer

Our IT team has over 100 people working diligently to ensure that our business systems are working effectively. Not only does our technology support the needs of our business units, but they also support many needs of our customers as well. Many of our applications have been developed within our organization. That's where you come in!

 

This particular role supports a variety of the internally developed applications, including time and attendance, customer rebate portals, and other finance applications. You would be focused on supporting these existing applications, performing upgrades and enhancements, developing functionality, sequencing and more.

 

Here's a look at some of the responsibilities:Develop programs or scripts according to specifications and established coding standards, analyzing and testing them for accuracy and optimal performanceEstablishes and enforces coding standardsAnalyzes and resolves program/script or system failuresFacilitates formal code reviews for programs/scriptsPerforms software system maintenance and supportShare critical issues, provide ideas for improvement and improve support as appropriate Who is Gordon Food Service?More than a century ago, we started out as a butter-and-egg delivery business. What do you need to bring to GFS?Bachelor's Degree  in Computer Science, Information, or related fieldJava, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, Eclipse, ANT, Weblogic, UNIX scripting are requiredSome COBOL is preferred6 months to two years of experience is all that is needed for this positionEffective time management, organization, and communication skills are a mustAbility to demonstrate effective problem-solving solutions is very important as wellWorking knowledge of Excel, Access, and other MicroSoft programs
