We are currently hiring in Lawrenceville, GA for the following: Associate Staff Engineer, Systems Integration & TestBRIEF DESCRIPTION: Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco Company, is seeking a Systems Integration & Test Engineer who can design and execute product test plans in a software integration setting. This position will concentrate on testing of an end-to-end Digital Network Control System using both RF and IP content distribution and control.RESPONSIBILITIES: Define functional and product performance testing requirements Review product requirements and translate them into a test plan, which includes definition of test cases, test environment, equipment and test instrumentation Must be able to apply knowledge of relevant industry standards, and conduct independent research as needed to supplement that knowledge Integrate software. Execute product test plans Document and report results. Create/test/dispatch Change Requests (CRs). Communicate issues and bugs to development engineers and management Coordinate activity across organizational lines. Frequent inter-organizational and outside (customer) interaction is required Provide engineering support to both internal and external customers Perform regression testing on previously released versions of the products MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or IT-related discipline or technical training (some college/military) and 5+ yrs experience SKILLS REQUIRED: 5+ years’ industry experience required 5+ years’ experience in Product Test, Software Integration, System Verification Testing, or similar support role SKILLS PREFERRED: Specific product knowledge and experience with one or more of the following products/technologies: SCTE 55-1 out-of-band cable system transport Scientific Atlanta’s PowerKEY CAS Gateway (PCG) Scientific Atlanta’s PowerKEY Encryption Server (PKES) CableCARD operation, testing and analysis VOD systems standards, operation, ingest, storage, playout and back-office systems MPEG encoding standards, operation, testing and analysis TCP/IP network design, function, topologies, protocols; this includes network testing, analysis, and use of tools such as snoop, Wireshark, et. al. IPv6, IGMP, NAT and RTP/RTSP/RTCP functionality, requirements, and standards Telecom service-provider “last mile” delivery networks, such as FTTX, PON and xDSL Defect tracking, test case management and test strategies; working knowledge of sanity, regression, integration, system verification testing practices and procedures Strong problem-solving skills; proven ability to identify and define problems, and evaluate and implement alternative solutions to complex technical problems Strong communication and documentation skills Experience with Informix and/or Oracle databases Skilled user of UNIX (Sun Solaris) and Windows systems Skilled user of lab instrumentation (meters, scopes, analyzers) Ability to configure, implement, and troubleshoot local and wide area networks Familiarity with Mercury TestDirector software application Use of electronic bug tracking and resolution systems (Scientific Atlanta uses Clarify) Working knowledge of digital cable television systems, preferably Scientific Atlanta digital cable systems.
