Associate Systems Administrator

Job Description:Remotely Operate and Maintain numerous servers in a Windows 2003 Active Directory Forest.Assists with implementing solutions for hardware and software.  Implement common preventive maintenance practices for hardware and software.  Ensure that system improvements and changes are implemented correctly and completely, and monitor all effects of the modifications.  Perform common and complex administrative tasks. Assists with procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.  Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents these programs.  Competent to work at the highest technical level of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming activities.May be responsible for completion of a phase of a project.  Regularly provides guidance and training to less experienced analyst/programmers.  Apply security patches/fixes and anti-virus updates.  Creating and implementing the domain level security policies such as authentication mechanisms, password policies and rules, IPSEC policies etc.Reviewing domain level rights and privileges and performs changes to the same as appropriate, and maintenance in a critical enterprise-class servers.  Collaborate in assessing current and expected Windows infrastructure needs, configuration, maintenance, optimization and documentation of Windows infrastructure.  Follow and apply configuration and security standards and policies within a defined Change Management process.Based on demonstrated proficiency and professional advancement, candidate may be required to provide supervision on all aspects of work done to include on the spot corrective training to peers as needed. Candidate may assist with new employee and update written guidelines of daily operations to include processes. Candidate may coordinate with other Divisions to improve workflow and analysis. Cubicle based IT operations in a government building, with DOD civilian, Military and contractor oversight . Other system administration and maintenance duties as assigned.Qualifications:College degree in a technology field or equivalent experience required.MCSE certification preferred.MCSA 2000/2003 preferred.A+, Network+ and/or Security+ certifications preferred.ITIL Foundations or equivalent certification preferred.
