BI Solutions Architect

 

Description

Solution Architect with extensive experience in the area of Business Intelligence (Management Information).  Specialization in Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing with a vast experience in Technical Architecture, Service Oriented Architecture, and Enterprise Application Architecture needed.  This can be very hands on architecture role.

 

Duties

Architect and design complex BI solutions. Provide technical leadership and architecture work for complex technical projects. Keep current technical knowledge in all areas of BI solutions and products, industry trends, competitive offerings, and be able to apply this knowledge to meeting the needs of internal clients.  Show thought leadership by mentoring staff, sharing knowledge with peers, and educating internal clients on what is possible.  Providing solutions can involve requirement gathering, solution design, development of proofs of concepts, development of solutions, testing, implementation, and post-implementation support. 

Oversight of the infrastructure architecture related to BI, making recommendations as needed to progress the environments.  Creating processes around the governance of BI project and the BI project development life cycles to supplement current processes.

 

Willing to travel – 20 to 25% 

Some International travel

 Interaction with Company leadership

 

Qualifications

Experience in the Financial Services/Insurance Industry desired but not required.

5+ years implementing BI solutions

Track record of successful implementations

Minimum 10 years of architecture/development experience

Experience working multiple tracks of BI initiatives

Management experience of BI initiatives desired

Strong leadership and design skills

 

Other Skills (Important)

Passion for BI

Experience in designing, developing, testing  and maintaining BI solutions

Experience with ETL tools

Experience with BI tools such as Microsoft Analysis/Reporting Services, Cognos, Business Objects or Hyperion

Experience with Dashboard concepts and technologies

Experience with physical and logical database design/modeling

Experience with database administration on SQL Server (preferred), Oracle, or DB2

Experience with end-user BI needs and implementations

.Net experience

Effective interpersonal and communication skills

Good writing skills

Ability to multitask

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Familiar with development life cycles
