Summary:

This opening is for a Manager who will be responsible for the organization’s Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence systems.  The individual holding this position will be involved in both group and individual development efforts pertaining to the company's Data warehouse & Business Intelligence (BI) applications that span all operational areas. The Manager will lead all aspects of the delivery of Distribution Sector BI solutions & related components: Data Warehousing, Data Management, BI architectures and tools, interfaces, conversions, HW/SW oversight (selection/sizing/configuration recommendation, & execution).

 

The Manager’s key responsibility will be to understand business challenges & translating them into requirements/solutions, using strong technical architecture knowledge of data warehousing, ETL tools, data staging techniques, metadata tools, and database designs. 

 

Management Responsibilities:

· Supervises schedules and coordinates projects that support the assigned segments of the business.

· Monitors assignment plans, and coordinates resources to ensure deadlines and budgets are met.

· Evaluates project progress and results.

· Coordinates implementation of all completed projects.

· Meets regularly with the assigned user areas of the organization to ensure that programming efforts scheduled provide value to their areas of responsibility and are prioritized.

· Reviews and schedules training for junior personnel.

· Typically supervises a group of analysts.

· Performs mid-year and annual employee evaluations and reviews.

· Work with business users to gather requirements and formulate the scope of the project.

 

Technical Responsibilities:

· Participate in a Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Technical Leadership role, with a focus upon Business Intelligence and Reporting.

· Lead and manage Business Intelligence and Reporting resources.

· Contribute to existing internal Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse applications

· Contribute to a Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Methodology

· Contribute to the Development of internal Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse staff

· For Data Warehouse Projects, determine methods and process for extracting data from source systems, transforming this data, and then loading the data into the data warehouse.

· Responsible for all aspects of Data warehouse, including concept, design, development, documentation, Implementation, and training.

· Define and capture metadata and business rules in coordination with other data warehouse team members to support the projects.

· Perform Technical reviews of existing Data Warehouse projects

· Performs across business/technology teams to ensure alignment between business solution definition & systems architecture for the organization.

· Demonstrates high level of technical capability utilizing system resources and tools to accomplish development tasks.

· Demonstrates initiative to learn new technology as it becomes available.

· Is knowledgeable and develops plans for multi system integration.

· Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, and requirements workshops.



 

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent work experience.2+ years of supervisory experience requiredApproximately 5 or more years of experience with BI and Data Warehousing3 or more years of experience in the IT industry, developing ETL applications for at least two data warehouse or datamart projectsKnowledge of Reporting tool Impromptu 7.1 and Report Net (Cognos).Knowledge of creating catalogs and deploying reports using Impromptu 7.1 and Report Net.Experience with RDBMS and SQL Server Database.Possess knowledge of the inherent challenges for a Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Implementation. Experience with a Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Development MethodologyLeverage past experience to perform Business Intelligence tool evaluations.Good SQL Programming skills.Microsoft’s DTS and/or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) Experience (a plus)RPG and .Net knowledge a plusExperience with other Reporting tools (Crystal, Business Objects, etc ) a plusExperience with Cognos 8 a plusExperience with LBI 9 a plusExperience with JDA’s Retail Ideas a plus
