Position Description:
Norandex Building Material Distribution is a $800 million unit of Saint-Gobain & is one of the largest distributor of vinyl siding in the U.S. The company operates 150 branches in 37 states & sells exterior building products to new home builders & remodeling contractors in their respective territories. Primary products include vinyl siding; vinyl, wood & alum windows/doors; decking, fencing, & rain carrying gear. Other prods may also be sold, depending on need of local market, including such things as carpeting, power tools & metal forming machines. This position is responsible for supporting all business processes, operations and application support for all branch, sales force and related interfaces (within and across businesses). The position requires a strong dedication to quality service while balancing a quantity of problem resolutions via email, fax, outgoing and incoming phone calls and minimizing downtime.
Qualifications:
• Resolves recurring production issues: identifies processes, defines requirements and functional specifications in order to improve the stability, operations, and functionality of applications. This work may involve internal IT resources, cross-functional business teams, and external vendors.• Serve as resource to non-branch and sales force users regarding processes, data and application as relates to the branch and sales force systems.• Recommend specifications, lead & participate in quality assurance (QA) testing (creates, executes, test plans), train, implement/lead small projects, monitor releases, determine if requirements have been met and support any new system, programs, or processes to align with more efficient operations and business strategic objectives• Conduct operational activities to ensure that complete and accurate transactional data is available from the branch systems for processing into the corporation's financial and back office systems• Technical support (hardware, operating systems, system malfunctions, LAN, WAN and network administration) for branch and sales force personnel, resulting in a high degree of satisfaction, expertise, and timeliness is required and these activities are done on a less frequent basis than the applications support• Install, identify, research, diagnosis, define, resolve, maintenance all branch and sales force systems. Maintain accurate records for the branch. • Responsible to learn new products or releases. Actively participate in the development and training of other team members as appropriate for our subject matter expertise.Job Requirements (Education & Experience):• Requires innovative problem solving with exceptional analytical skills; a disciplined and logical thought process along with strong technical and non technical communications skills, decision making ability and excellent organization skills • Detailed knowledge of commonly used concepts, best practices, and procedures within (branch) operations environment is preferred.• Broad Range of Knowledge: DOS commands, network (LAN, WAN, router, switches, TCP/IP), operating systems (Windows 2000 -Server 2003), hardware (Server, thin client, printers, laptop technology) file structure, database & MSOffice products.• Undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science, or related disciplines is preferred.
