Business Intelligence Engineer - Cognos (Sony Online Entertainment)

The ProSource Group is currently working directly with Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) to assist them with some of their high-priority requirements. You will be applying for a direct, full-time position with SOE.

We are currently searching for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join our team in San Diego.

 

This position is part of the SOE Platform group.  The Platform group provides infrastructure systems to the company for services such as registration, billing, customer service tools, as well as support of business initiatives such as retention and promotional programs. In addition, the group develops and maintains the PLAYSTATION®3 Network Platform.

 

The ideal candidate needs to have hands experience on Cognos/MSOLAP, Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Report writing and UNIX scripts. We are looking for a person who is very solid in Reporting and also has some background in ETL Processing in a Data Warehouse environment.

 

The candidate will model and develop complex reports in a data warehouse environment. He/she will also write ETL processing in PL/SQL, Shell or Perl for data load purposes in an Oracle environment to pull data from multiple sources. In addition he/she will write *Error Processing* handling in a data warehouse environment. This is an 80% technical position, with 20% business analysis. An understanding or experience in the Online Games industry is a big plus.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Required:

•  BA/BS Degree or equivalent years of related experience required

•  Hands-on Data Warehouse analysis, design and maintenance skills along with detailed knowledge of BI technology trends and best practices required

•  2+ years experience working with Cognos

•  4+ years of Reporting experience.  Proven ability to develop complicated reports with Oracle as the back end database.

•  Should be familiar with integration of multiple data sources, data loading technologies such as SQL loader, external tables etc.

•  Proven ability to be able to learn business rules and processes and able to clearly articulate comprehension of rules.

•  Strong SQL,PL/SQL ,Analytical functions, materialized views, bulk processing using PL/SQL required

•Experience with 'Error Processing Handling' in a data warehouse environment.

•Hands-on experience in multi dimensional databases and Olap technologies is highly desirable

 

Optional:

•  Experience / exposure to .NET

•Experience with Microsoft Analysis Services

•Experience using Oracle Warehouse Builder
