CNS Lead - WAN Engineer P-00058

The University of Maryland’s Public Safety Training and Technical Assistance Program (PSTTAP) is seeking a CNS Lead/WAN Engineer.  The successful candidate will be assigned to the State of Maryland’s Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION (ITCD) in Reisterstown, Maryland.  The DPSCS is in the process of improving the technical services that it provides to its organizations.

 

In particular, it is striving to maintain and provide information and communications services throughout DPSCS to criminal justice agencies and to the public.  This position is responsible of ensuring that adequate network services to DPSCS and law enforcement users is available twenty-four hours per day, seven days per week.  This includes engineering, planning, designing, integrating and maintaining hardware and software for local and wide area networks to include operating systems and communications software.  This position will also monitor the DPSCS network, advising subordinate Computer Network Specialists of necessary changes and improvements necessary to ensure network reliability and stability to all DPSCS and law enforcement agencies throughout the State of Maryland.

 

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education:    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Equivalent.

 

Experience:Seven years' network experience.  Four years of experience must have involved the design, integration and implementation of complex networks to include the following:  EIGRP & OSPF Routing protocols, Cisco Catalyst OS, IOS, CSS OS and PIX Firewall OS, IPv4 and SNA and ATM and Frame-Relay configuration and troubleshooting. knowledge of all or expertise in, any subset of the following: Performance/Monitoring tools, Migration, HP OpenView (HPOV), Remedy, CheckPoint IDPS and Windows Server.

 

  SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

COMPENSATION:

$65,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience. The University also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid leave and tuition remission.
