CPA/Accounting Manager

CPA/ACCOUNTING MANAGER
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the staff of the Human Resources and Accounting Departments to include maintaining daily accounting operations in order to facilitate the preparation of corporate financial reports and analyses. The Accounting Manager will report to the President and will be responsible for cash flow management, collection of accounts receivable, accounts payable, the preparation of management reports and year-end tax planning and preparation.
The Accounting Manager will have a demonstrated record in all aspects of automated accounting (Deltek), including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Time and Billing and Payroll. A basic understanding of the tax impact of expenses, income and fixed assets will be expected.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES INCLUDE:
Accounts Payable / General Ledger. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the timely processing of vendor invoices including ensuring that client-billable expenses are properly allocated as such. The Accounting Manager will code all billable and non-billable expenses with the appropriate G/L account and forward them to the President for approval prior to data entry. On at least a semi-monthly basis, the Accounting Manager will review accounts payable and present a proposed check run listing to the President for approval following the appropriate company guidelines. The Accounting Manager is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of all vendor files and is the point of contact for vendors.
Payroll. The Accounting Manager is responsible for in-house payroll through payment of all payroll taxes.
Billing. The Accounting Manager is responsible for drafting all routine client invoices for approval and finalization by the 10th day of each month. In addition, “project basis” invoices will be drafted and finalized within two weeks of completion of such projects. A monthly review of unbilled time and expenses will be performed to ensure all completed jobs are billed in a timely manner. The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the client billing files with the exception of Letters of Agreement, which are maintained by the President.
Accounts Receivable. The Accounting Manager is responsible for monitoring accounts receivable to ensure steady and healthy cash flow. The Accounting Manager will contact delinquent clients when requested to do so. The Accounting Manager will record the bank deposits as well as establish and maintain files for the same.
Fixed Assets. The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Office Manager to maintain the Fixed Assets Inventory listing which is used in preparation of annual Property Tax Returns. The Accounting Manager will also perform an annual inventory of assets.
Financial Reporting. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for the preparation of corporate and management reports by providing backup detail for monthly expense and income transactions and supplying explanations for budget variances.
Outside Accountants. The Accounting Manager is the major interface with our external accountants with year-end tax planning and preparation by providing details for tax-impact transactions in the General Ledger and fielding related questions.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) desired.
5 to 8 years experience in accounting and/or finance to include general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, time and billing, payroll and bank reconciliation.Strong organizational skills and the ability to recognize and set priorities.Attention to detail and demonstrating initiative in following through and completing tasks in a timely fashion.Experience working with integrated accounting system software, Deltek is a must.Ability to effectively support the President as well as manage other staff members in order to facilitate financial report preparation and analysis.
