Education and Background:

Basic Requirements:

• 5 plus years of Teradata Data Warehousing experience.
• 5 plus years of Teradata database design, performance tuning and workforce management.
• 100% Travel Required
• BA or BS Degree Required

Preferred Requirements:

• Teradata Certified Master
• 10 plus years of Teradata Data Warehousing experience.
• 5 plus years of Teradata Capacity Planning.
• Proficient in UNIX, NT & MVS
• Previous work experience as Senior Consultant or Consulting experience i.e. Vendor or consulting firm.
• Familiar with and can implement the PS Performance Services as Documented.

Description / Key Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This position has two primary roles. The first is to, as needed; assess all aspects of a customer’s environment as it relates to optimization and performance.

This work will focus on the enterprise as a whole and will apply across all industries.

This role will combine technical ability, business acumen, and an understanding of industry standards and technology trends.

The team member will build relationships with client business and IT staff. The second role is to expertly implement Professional Services Performance Service Bundles.

The job is 100% travel, and each engagement is approximately 1 to 4 weeks.

 

Specific activities will include:
* Review architecture and applications planned or in production.
* Use collected data to analyze a customer’s current environment, determine trouble areas, and present and/or implement recommendations.
* Prepare and present written recommendations to various technical and business associates, including senior client executives. .
* Develop relationship and coordinate closely with various development departments to understand features and how those features can benefit performance.
* Analyze applications including, but not limited to, CPU and IO usage, user demographics, join paths, data skew, system settings and other aspects of optimization.
* Use automated, repeatable industry-independent services and methodologies that allows for rapid, comprehensive evaluation of the client's current performance state.

· Continue to update and refine these services.
* establish a performance baseline with which to quantify a customer’s current performance.
* Structure and present analysis and recommendations
* Identify a performance end state and provide an implementation plan to achieve it.
* provide a cost benefit analysis of recommendations
* facilitates scoping projects/phases that result from recommendations
* Mentors client on Performance best practices and methodologies
* Provide subject matter expertise on engagements
* Provide engagement teams with expertise on every aspect of Performance optimization.
* Support engagement manager with quality assurance and client management/relationship
* Mentor junior level consultants on engagements; teach skills to others, share lessons learned
* Support the selling of client engagements (presentations, proposals, proofs of concept, etc.)
* Participate in Solution Selling planning meetings as needed
* Provide optimization consultation/education to Solution Team members
* Identify/communicate engagement service opportunities
* Develop/deliver client presentations
* Increase internal/external awareness of optimization services
* Develop project plan
* Define project goals and objectives
* Perform risk analysis
* Manage complex team projects, including clients
* Provides assistance with identification of Solution Team /client team members
* Establishes/maintains client relations
* Generate revenue and billable hours through a combination of pre-sale and post-sale activities. Average number of billable hours ranges from 1,200 to 1,600 annually.
* Work to pull-through to other/additional solution sales opportunities.
