Must be able to obtain initial credit and criminal check before beginning employment.Job Duties: Apogen Technologies is currently seeking a Network Communications Technician to maintain smooth operation of local area, wide area and virtual private networks (VPN) supporting our customers in solving mission critical technology challenges of national significance. We provide senior level support in the definition and resolution of all equipment and data communications network problems to ensure service continuity to all users for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) network. Candidates must possess the ability to function well in a high-paced, rapidly-changing environment and perform multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner. Plan, evaluate, and coordinate installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Applicants should have a working knowledge of various communications protocols (BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF) and network communications components, as well as, excellent communication skills – both written and oral.
