TITLE:  Computer Systems Engineer (1 Position)

SALARY:  $45,613 - Bargaining Position with City of Springfield benefits.

 

FUNDING SOURCE: General Funds

 

EFFECTIVE DATE

OF EMPLOYMENT:  As soon as possible.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:  52 Weeks, 37.5 Hours per Week

 

DUTIES:  1. Directly responsible to the Technology Manager.

2.  Work cooperatively with the Director of Technology Operations and the CIO.

3.  Provide technical support to end users and technology staff.

4.  Assemble, install, diagnose, manage, troubleshoot, and repair server and network equipment.

5.  Support and maintain Active Directory including all group policy objects.

6.  Instruct staff on all technology related software and equipment.

7.  Implement and ensure adherence to district technology standards/procedures.

8.  Maintain the highest level of system security and data integrity.

9.  Any other duties specified by the Technology Manager, the Superintendent, the Director of Technology Operations, or the CIO

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  1. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited college/university is preferred.  Equivalent experience will be considered.

2.  Must be proficient with the following operating systems: Windows 9x, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003.

3.  Basic knowledge in a broad range of IT infrastructure technologies.

4.  Areas of experience desired: Windows 2003 servers, Active Directory, DNS, Microsoft Exchange, Backup Exec, and Cisco equipment.

5.  Strong communication, written and verbal skills.

6.  Strong problem solving and organizational skills.

7.  Willingness to attend training and learn new skills.

8.  Patience and understanding of the problems of staff with limited experience in the use of technologies.
