Configuration Manager

 

Job Summary: 



The Configuration Manager is responsible for the maintenance of all configuration items/artifacts created by the IT organization.  The individual will assist in maintaining the various repositories where the configuration items are stored and the development team in the deployment of all pre-production artifacts.  Performs job duties consistent within safety, legal and regulatory requirements; company standards, culture and business practices.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

· Set up and maintain a software control management system to be used for code versioning and source control

· Set up and maintain a knowledge repository database used to manage all IT related artifacts (functional/technical) documentation, project plans, training materials

· Work with the application development teams during the construction and transition phases of the SDLC to ensure the proper deployment of software components throughout all pre-production environments

· Assist in the creation/maintenance of all methods and procedures related to versioning control and incrementing.

· Provide reports to the IT organization on the current versions and history of configuration items

· Responsible for assessing the current maturity model of configuration item management an making improvements to increase maturity

 

 

Additional Duties:

 

Contributes to departmental activities and programs by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



· 3-5 years working with CVS, VSS, Clear Case or other software configuration management tools

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint Server

· Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project Server

· Specific experience with build and release for .NET, C#, web services, and client-server applications with database components

· Specific experience with build and release for Java, web services, and client-server applications with database components

· Experience integrating software configuration management tools into an IDE

· Strong understanding of OOP, SOA, n-tier application development

 

 

Education/Experience

 

In order to accomplish the essential duties of this position, the incumbent must have three to five years experience working as a configurations manager.  Must be well versed in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), with a focus on software deployment processes.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  This position is a regular full time position on a schedule established by the supervisor.  Travel is required to conduct the essential functions of the position, which may require overnight and weekend stays.  Being on call, altering the work schedule, and working overtime are required in order to meet the demands and deadlines associated with the position.  The work environment involves the use of typical office equipment such as telephone, computer, facsimile, etc. in a controlled climate.
