DASD Storage and SMS Technical Support

Responsibilities include zOS technical support.  Candidate will apply expert experience in large and complex information technology systems implementation, and integration of diverse architectures, including expertise with storage hardware such as RAID DASD, mainframe DASD storage controllers, and mainframe tape storage technology. 

Specific Tasks. 
 - DASD Storage and SMS Support - Provide technical support in zOS mainframe system environment with expertise in DFSMS, DFHSM and other DASD Management tools. Implement DFSMS onto the existing environment.

 - Provide technical support in DFSMS suite of products and zOS DASD Management tools.

 - Monitor, maintain and recover DASD storage systems and placement of data sets to improve processing efficiency of data systems. Report to the Government Technical Action Officer (TAO) when requested and provide details of the report in the Monthly Task Report.

 - Perform lead role and participate in new system design and development. Provide reports to the TAO for review and comment, and provide details of the reports in the Monthly Task Report.

 - Provide technical support in interactive applications, productivity tools, and run-time improvement enhancements.

 - Provide production support of complex programs, analyze and recommend to the TAO changes to control procedures and processes.

 - Provide technical support in data center and application consolidations, distributed processing and client/server computing projects and data center automated operations projects.

 - Provide technical support and expertise in data center DASD management software, hardware and tools. Provide technical advice and consulting services during development of system interfaces and exits, responding to problems that arise during program testing and in production modes.

 - Perform trend analysis on systems performance, recommend configuration changes to the TAO and participate in planning activities to schedule system upgrades.

 - Provide technical consulting services to the customer on questions and issues relating to the DASD, tape, and performance management software maintained on the SMC Mechanicsburg mainframe systems, including all changes and upgrades.

 - Support and cross train all interested government employees on DASD topics.

Requirements include zOS Experience, IBM Mainframe, RAID DASD, Storage technology experience.
