DB2-UDB Data Base Analyst

Established in 1968, Harbor Freight Tools is a fast growing, well established privately held retail company opening stores across the United States.  We currently operate over 270 stores in 44 states with plans to open over 30 stores per year. Harbor Freight Tools is seeking an DB2-UDB DBA for our MIS department in our corporate headquarters in Camarillo, CA.

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The employee will be responsible for assisting in the administration of UDB databases use by the retail reporting and customer service systems.  Task included, but not limited to, supporting, designing, and implementing Oracle tables, assuring that required utilities such as backup and restore are set up and functioning, and designing and implementing application programs related to the tables.  The company uses UDB 9.1Provide 7x24 365 UDB support for Central Purchasing, LLCDesign and implement efficient UDB tablesDesign and implement efficient application programs interacting using SQLInterface with other MIS staff during design and implementation processesProvide after-hours support for operations personnel with UDB related issuesMonitor health of UDB systems

 

Education and/or Experience:

Database performance tuning experience will be a definite benefit.Oracle UDB 9SQLFamiliarity with AIX/Unix operating systemAbility to communicate and cooperate with all levels of the organizationMay be required to work overtime and shifts outside of normal hoursWillingness to step outside of the stated job description is required.The MIS staff is a team environment and each employee is expected to assist other employees in any way possible.
