The University of Maryland’s Public Safety Training and Technical Assistance Program (PSTTAP) is seeking a DP Programmer Analyst II. The successful candidate will be assigned to the State of Maryland’s Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION (ITCD) in Reisterstown, Maryland. The DPSCS is in the process of improving the technical services that it provides to its organizations. In particular, it is striving to maintain and provide information and communications services throughout DPSCS to criminal justice agencies and to the public.
The DPSCS, Information Technology and Communications Division (ITCD) is interested in obtaining a DP Programmer Analyst II. We are seeking an individual with previous application software development. The successful candidate will have experience creating designs, develops, tests, implements and maintains web-based as well clients/Server applications systems and programs for Division of Corrections, Parole and Probations, Office of Secretary and other databases or systems that maintain and provide data and information in a manner consistent with the DPSCS’ standards, objectives and master plan. The candidate will also need to be proficient in identifying data integrity issues that need to be dealt with prior to or during a system development, including IMS, DB2, or VSAM structure to Oracle and SQL Server. This position will also handle other tasks as assigned by the Manager of the Direct Customer Solutions group.
Job Functions:
• Proficient in developing Microsoft ASP and .NET (VB.NET, ASP.NET, ADO.NET) applications and web services
• Expertise in business systems analysis, systems integration, and deployment in a complex multi-platform environment including Microsoft SQL Server on Windows Server 2003, Oracle on Unix and/or DB2.
• Highly effective oral and written communications skills including the ability to develop clearly written, understandable, and complete project/user documentation for all assigned projects
• Professional experience using other software development languages, tools and applications including: Microsoft Visual Studio, Visio, Microsoft Reporting Server. HTML, CSS, ASP, ASP.Net, VB, VBScript and JavaScript are desirable
• Familiarity with IIS security architecture and data encryption methodologies helpful
Job Qualifications:
(Required)Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology‑related field. Experience: At least three years of experience in application development.
