Data Center Operator/Backup Implementation Specialist

Position Duties & Responsibilities (detailed description):  · Work with business units to ensure that enterprise data backup requirements comply with existing bakup standards, policies and procedures· Deploy backup policies that are in compliance with SOX regulations· Maintain offsite vaulting requirements using enterprise backup solution (Currently Veritas NetBackup)· Install and upgrades as required of NetBackup software, including upgrades, new releases and maintenance packs· Create backup reports for upper management as needed· Troubleshoot backup issues· Share on-call responsibilities with other members of the storage and DCOPS team· Create and manage EMC BCV's for backup of SQL databases· Create and maintain NetApp SnapMirror and SnapVault sessions as needed· Participate in enterprise backup architecture and tuning best practices· Participate in Disaster Recovery program development, planning, implementation, and testing exercises·  Rack mount, cable, and install base operating system and configuration for network and server equipment within the Data Center.·  Assist in troubleshoot multiple operating systems, including Microsoft and Unix to ensure quick and timely solutions for Data Center issues Qualifications (list required skills, education and years of experience):  5-7 years experience within a Data Center environment. 3 or more years experience with Enterprise Backup environments, specifically using Veritas NetBackup. System Administration experience in a windows 2000/2003 and Unix environment Experience with VMWare, from a backup and recovery perspective Experience with Enterprise Tape libraries, and Tape Management systems Working knowledge of NetBackup NDMP backup and NetApp Filers Working knowledge of Brocade Fiber Channel switches and directors Working knowledge of Fiber Channel Backup solutions in a multiplatform environment consisting of EMC and NetApp devices 3-5years experience installing cable, fiber, power, and rack mounting equipment. Thorough knowledge and understanding of cable and fiber testing products and procedures Minimum of 3 years experience with UNIX and Microsoft products and technologies. Competent with initial system hardware build out for multiple system architectures Strong understanding of implementation and support for large web based applications, and network routing (TCP, IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP and other related internet protocols) Ability to train junior level employees in day to day operational tasks Excellent written and verbal communication skills
