Data Modeler/Database Analyst

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Database Analyst will translate business and data requirements into mapping spreadsheets to be used to create logical and physical data models. 

 

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:Work with identified business users to define data requirementsDevelop mapping spreadsheets that will provide the project teams with source to target data mapping, inclusive of logical names, physical names, data types, volumetrics, domain definitions, and metadata definitionsTranslate data requirements into logical and physical database modelsSupport efforts to improve data accuracy, data quality, data security, data integrity, and data standards across all applicationsAssist team members in documenting and defining the technical requirements of the applications.Build expertise with new technologies, software, methods, and tools.Contribute to a high-performing, motivated work group by applying interpersonal communication and collaboration skills to achieve project goals.Work with other team leaders and supervisors to ensure project and organizational deadlines are met. 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION REQUIRED:Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.Expertise in using Microsoft Office; including Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, and Visio. Also ability to document projects using MS Project and other tools.Expertise in conducting a client interview (internal and external) regarding new development and problem resolution, with ability to document and follow-up.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of the integration of medical and/or claims information and information systems in a 24/7 processing environment.Advanced level of knowledge of current technologies, programming languages, project management concepts, and application or systems development methodologies. Associate or Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent work experience.3 years of application design and SQL programming experience.2 years experience in data modeling and data normalization.2 years ERwin Data Modeler software experience. 1 year can be substituted with an equivalent data modeling software.2 years of COBOL programming experience.2 years of experience with TSO, ISPF, SDSF, or equivalent products. 1 year can be supplemented with an equivalent editor.
