Data Security Engineer

Nortel Government Solutions has an immediate opening for a Sr. Data Security Engineer located in Kansas City, MO. This person would be responsible for configuring, deploying, and managing multiple Check Point Firewalls, Alteon Load balancers, and SSL VPN Gateway systems.  Duties will include patching, upgrading, backups, configuration management, administration, and testing.  Responsible for the effective use of sniffer software, and have a good understanding of TCP and UDP ports and functions.  Education: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience: 7-9 yrs Required Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent experience; 7-9 years experience of which 3 should be in implementing and managing data network security solutions including firewalls and VPN solutions. Required Skills/Abilities: Candidate should be proficient with: Check Point Firewall configuration and management.  Load Balancing (prefer Alteon knowledge) configuration and management. SSL VPN Gateway (prefer Nortel experience) configuration and management. Proficient in data networking technologies, including routing, ACL's, and QOS. Experience with Windows 2003 Server, RADIUS, LDAP, and some Linux. Candidate should also possess a basic understanding of network analysis and management tools such as SnifferPro, HP Openview, and SMARTS. Good communication skills (i.e. writing, verbal and technical documentation skills including providing on-the-job knowledge transfer), basic project management skills.
