Job Description Data Services Security Engineer p { font-size: 11px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 12px; } Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities:" Provide network design, engineering, implementation and technical support / documentation for the Verizon Wireless Network Security infrastructure comprised of firewalls, routers with ACLs, VPN, network analysis equipment and IDS devices that safeguard the Verizon Wireless voice and data networks." Work closely with multiple organizations (internal and external) and manage projects in order to ensure proper packet path and application security." Project manage new network deployments and assist in the design process of integrating security networks with the voice and data networks." Manage, maintain and configure security network hardware (i.e. firewalls, firewall rule sets and remote access platforms (VPN, B2B VPN)) according to Verizon Wireless security policies and standards." Complete service requests within required timeframes including updating documentation." Create detailed MoPs (Method of Procedure) to fulfill applicable service requests and changes." Execute MoPs (when needed) including pre- and post- testing of changes." Review MoPs and service request details with Verizon Wireless Data Services Operations for changes Data Services Operations will execute." Conduct regular meetings with regional, Network Equipment Center and project management teams to review outstanding service requests and convey information regarding Data Services Security Engineering roadmap." Conduct regular meetings with Data Sales Engineers to discuss service request status, prioritization and ongoing Data Services Security Engineering activities." Monitor performance of security network elements and plan for capacity upgrades and performance optimizations." Provide 2nd tier technical support to the Verizon Wireless Data Services Operations team on any security networking issues." Overnight travel may be required to regions, training and trade shows." Approximately one week per month the Data Services Security Engineer will be required to be on-call. On-call represents being available to address any technical outage 7 days by 24 hours and the individual cannot travel more than one hour away from a location that would enable them access to the network." Training will be provided on an as needed basis." Technical / Project implementation presentations may be periodically required. p { font-size: 11px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; line-height: 12px; } Qualifications Candidate Qualifications:" Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent data networking and telecommunications service experience." Minimum 3 years experience in network security is required including expert knowledge of security firewalls (Checkpoint: R55+, Nokia: IPSO 3.8+, IP1260+), Dragon 7.x, Nortel VPN Concentrator, Unix and Unix commands. Candidate should possess expert knowledge and skillset of HA concepts, VPN troubleshooting (multi-vendor), Juniper, Sniffer (packet capture), and an understanding of security level impact on client server applications. A strong understanding of structured network design and the OSI Interconnect model especially how it relates to the design and deployment of structured networks is required. Strong project management skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral), and the ability to handle / prioritize multiple projects simultaneously is required.Candidate should possess experience working with wireless customers to engineer FES (Fixed End System) VPN customer connectivity, bring customer connectivity online and troubleshoot customer connectivity issues. Candidate should possess knowledge of the CDMA wireless networking services that customers utilize on the Verizon Wireless networks.Knowledge of script writing and system administration is desirable. Experience with REMEDY ticketing system is also desirable. Good PC skills on Windows 95/98/NT/2K/XP/Vista and MS Office, Project and Visio are required.Candidate should be able to lead and participate in technical sessions, lead projects and coordinate technical implementation discussions.Candidate should be able to work flexible hours including evenings, nights and weekends when needed.
