Job Category:Network Security Engineer Principal Leader Primary Location:USA-CA: CALIFORNIA-SAN DIEGOSchedule:Full-time Job Type:Regular Employee Status:RegularJob Posting: 04/07/2008Description: Data Storage Engineer with in-depth understanding of NetApp products and architectures, EMC Clariion, Symmetrix/DMX, Powerpath, Navisphere, and Enterprise Control Center (ECC) - San Diego, CAEssential Job Functions Design, implement, administer and support storage solutions, focused in the Network Appliance and EMC within a DOD Environment. Provide direct technical support for the planning, coordination, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to storage systems and the range of products and productivity tools that support the testing and production of those storage systems. Ensures stable performance for the storage environment through performance monitoring and tuning. Perform capacity planning, workload modeling, and prediction. Ensures systems maintenance of storage and related systems. Instruct, help develop, and mentor less-seasoned technical staff when appropriate. Plan, coordinate, and implement storage systems and related software. Plan and implement system upgrades, ensuring change management procedures and methodologies are implemented and followed. Recommend purchase of products or services necessary to support the test and production operating environments. Monitor multiple project priorities and ensures that appropriate management is apprised of the operation status of projects. Provide business and technical consultation and support to clients, project managers, product developers, users and other technical units. Develop and complete an education plan to grow skills consistent with client needs. Plans, conducts and oversees highly complex projects or major phases of significant projects; Acts a technical lead in security network engineering efforts. Conducts investigations and tests of complex security software systems to enhance performance or investigate and resolve matters of significance. Reviews completion and implementation of technical products to ensure success and timeliness. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of more complex network security projects. Recommends corrections in complex technical applications and analysis to enhance performance. Acts as the initial contact with vendors on more complex projects to provide required products or services. Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel. Provides technical consultation to other organizations; interacts with senior customer personnel and internal senior management. Provides the customer base with first level support. Performs comprehensive security assessment of all designs within all enterprise networks, advises senior level executives of network vulnerabilities, and develops procedures and polices to rectify. Develops and coordinates plans for periodic penetration testing of all applications and network elements for adherence to federal regulations. Basic Qualifications In-depth understanding of NetApp products and architectures, EMC Clariion, Symmetrix/DMX, Powerpath, Navisphere, and Enterprise Control Center (ECC) - Minimum of 3 Years. Knowledge of general storage technologies: SAN, NAS, DAS, FC; prior experience or familiarity with alternative storage products is desirable. Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts, including principles of network-routing client/server applications. Solid understanding of NFS, CIFS, Fibre Channel administration in a NetApp and EMC Environment. Storage Management: HP Storage Management Suite or Tivoli Storage Manager experience helpful. OS software: Proficiency in at least one Unix or Intel operating system and Windows 2003 required. Linux and Windows certifications a plus. SAN: Experience with Brocade, Cisco MDS, or McData-based SAN fabrics required. Knowledge of IBM or EMC disk subsystems required, knowledge of HP/Dell storage is desired. Experience with scripting to customize functionality of storage subsystems a plus. Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts, including the principles of network routing and client/server programming. Knowledge of NetApp and EMC Replication Technologies required, knowledge of ReplicatorX, Recover Point or SAN Tap is desired. Knowledge Data at Rest Encryption, Data Mobility, and FC/IP is desired. Knowledge of all DOD, NSA, and Federal Standards on data storage and record management and archival is required. Well versed in disaster recovery technology - snapmirror, snapshots, backups. Experience with enterprise backups, in a SAN environment using CommVault Galaxy/Simpana, ADIC and StorageTek Libraries and NetApp VTL. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to participate in 24/7 on-call schedule.
