Database Administrator

The Database Administrator serves as a part of Stanley's Corporate Systems team, and will interact frequently with department heads, vice presidents, and other executives as an essential part of the team that manages critical corporate financial applications.  The Database Administrator manages production databases and applications, and ensures that all production changes follow the company's change management procedures.  In addition, the DBA develops procedures, controls, metrics, and validations to ensure data quality and integrity for corporate applications.Specific Duties:• Monitor and ensure system performance. • Manage event logs and nightly data feeds between databases. • Manage the periodic upgrade and maintenance of multiple applications for Payroll, HR, Labor, Expenses, Financials, and Reporting. • Monitor data quality. • Maintain data integrity across different systems through the use of audits and test cases. • Interacting with users to solve data quality issues. • Design and implement a database backup strategy.Bachelors Degree or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years related work experience are required.Additional Requirements:• Ability to successfully complete the Stanley Background Investigation to include; 50 State Criminal, Education, Employment, Credit and Driving Records Checks for continued employment. • Experience with the MS SQL Server (2000/2005) DBMS • Demonstrated ability to work with existing PL/SQL and TSQL scripts and procedures; Write and implement new triggers, stored procedures and cursors as needed for database maintenance, administration, troubleshooting, performance tuning and data transfer. • Knowledge of replication and synchronization within the MS SQL Server environment. • Demonstrated expertise in ETL from a variety of sources to RDBMS targets using tools and custom code. • Ability to communicate with non-technical users using results of SQL queries to resolve data quality issues. • Metrics creation and report generation experience. • Demonstrated expertise in Data Cleansing using tools and custom code. • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work independently to resolve data quality issues. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Knowledge of network protocols used for DBMS communication. • Knowledge of lifecycle management of database management. • Experience with Microsoft operating systems (Windows XP/2003). • Experience with the implementation of standalone and client/server database architectures. • Experience with hardware and software upgrades for major systems. • Position requires the ability to routinely lift and move equipment weighing up to 50lbs.  • Some after-hours and weekend work may be required.Preferred:• Experience with Oracle Location: Arlington, VA Status: Full Time, Employee Job Category: IT/Software Development Relevant Work Experience: 2+ to 5 Years Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
