Apply industry best practices to data modeling, table and index design. Partner with developers to help them optimize their code as it relates to database access. Through that partnership, identify tuning opportunities and recommend performance enhancements. Help developers leverage database features and functions. Assist developers by identifying potential problems and recommending alternative solutions. Implement changes to database objects (tables, indexes, constraints, triggers, views, and stored procedures) in development and test environments. Interface directly with Production DBA’s to implement database changes in production.Qualifications:B.S. in Computer Science or other technical degree or equivalent work experience required with 2-6 years of post-graduate experience in IT. This position also requires 2-4 years as an Oracle DBA or developer with direct exposure to database design, data modeling, application SQL tuning, space management and database monitoring. Must have working knowledge of AIX and Solaris operating systems a plus. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills; Strong analytical and problem solving skills; Must be self-motivated and able to grasp functional concepts quickly; Must be able to work on cross-functional teams and independently. Hands-on experience with Pharmacy Benefits Systems or other Walgreen Pharmacy/Health Care application systems is highly desirable..
