Database Management Specialist

Our Center on Outcomes, Research and Education (CORE) is currently seeking a Database Management Specialist. CORE is the locus for health outcomes research at ENH and is an international leader in health outcomes assessment, measurement and applications to improve patient care and influence policy. This position is conveniently located in downtown Evanston.

In this role, the Database Management Specialist will provide oversight of data management and quality assurance activities, in accordance with established policies and procedures. The Specialist will work closely with investigators, study coordinators, database programmers and statisticians to implement appropriate data management strategies for a wide range of studies. Specific duties will include development and monitoring of standard operating procedures to ensure high quality data, development of data specifications, assistance with case report form design, establishing and maintaining analytical datasets using standard software packages (SAS, SPSS), and performing data analyses.

 

Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years work experience (beyond student work), including a thorough understanding of data management and analysis processes. This position requires demonstrated proficiency with SAS (SQL, macros, reading and writing data files in ASCII, CSV and other data formats, Base SAS procedures), and expertise in identifying and solving complex data management issues across multiple studies. Candidates must be detail-oriented, flexible to changing priorities, able to work independently or as a member of a team, and able to establish effective relationships with management, co-workers and external collaborators. Excellent organizational, communication and analytical skills are required.
