Dev Support Escalation Engineer

If so, we would like to hear from you!The Support Escalation Engineer (SEE) position is a second-tier support role focused on helping Developers write solutions using core Windows APIs including System, Security, Networking, etc. As an SEE, you can work directly with Developer Customers who range from small software developers to Fortune 100 corporations. You will participate with a team that works toward resolving the most difficult environmental and/or programming challenges. You will work with other engineers to debug, troubleshoot, write code, and create solutions. You will document solutions and work with product groups to improve Microsoft products.ResponsibilitiesCommunicate effectively with Microsofts developer customers via telephone, written correspondence, and electronic services regarding technically complex information.Efficiently analyze customer problems in supported technologies and develop solutions to meet customer needs. This can involve debugging, troubleshooting, writing sample code, and taking responsibility to see that the issue is fully resolved.Participate in regular technical triage meetings to share knowledge with others and help them develop efficient solutions for their customers.Learn technologies and products supported by the team and continually improve personal knowledge and skills.Identify and report both software bugs and customer suggestions.Create advanced technical content including Microsoft Knowledge Base articles, samples, whitepapers, and training.This position may require travel to a customers site under short notice and also may require 24x7 on-call availability for critical customer problems.ContactsThis position has frequent contact with all levels of Developer Customers and Microsoft employees including managers, support professionals, customer account managers, and product development teams.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and/or equivalent experience:- a four-year degree in C.S. or E.E.- a minimum of one year of Windows API programming experienceStrong customer service skills, problem solving skills, and ability to work both independently and in a team environment are required. Candidates must have excellent written and spoken English communication skills including ability to communicate complex technical information effectively and provide clear instructions. Strong C/C++ programming and debugging skills are required. Programming experience with COM is highly desirable. Experience with VB.NET, C# programming, and/or systems management is a plus.
