Director, IT - Enterprise Architect

Description:Job Summary:The Enterprise Architect will drive the Core EA function to align Business strategy to IT strategy, develop Architecture roadmap and establish Architecture standards and principles and the EA governance process to ensure compliance. As a Director, you will utilize strong management and technical competencies to set objectives and develop strategies for IT architecture. You will lead departmental and cross-functional teams that are focused on the efficient operations of the company's information processing systems and planning for future information systems needs. Essential Functions:- Drive alignment of IT with business by developing an IT architecture to meet business needs.- Develop and drive a strategy to simplify existing Applications architecture and build for scalability and supportability.- Chair the Core Enterprise Architecture group.- Establish a design approval process as a design gateway for all projects as they go through project lifecycle.- Mentor and guide the solution architects across the organization.- Publish and maintain the 3 year IT Architecture roadmap working closely with the PMO and Business Process transformation functions.- Setup and maintain an EA repository for Applications and all its infrastructure and interfaces, and use it to Assess and communicate the impacts, trade-offs, risks, costs, benefits and opportunities of IT solutions- Define the architecture and technology standards for all applications and infrastructure across the organization, and ensure those standards are published, updated and made widely available.- Work cross functionally across the domains of Business architecture, Application architecture, Data architecture and Infrastructure architecture.- At critical stages, guide the architecting of major applications and provide direction to application architects, project managers and developers to ensure that requirements are met in an architecturally sound manner while meeting fundamental technical requirements such as scalability, security, flexibility, extensibility, reusability and supportability.- Work collaboratively with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.- Participate in corporate development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs and people within your area of responsibility.- Develop budgets for approval and assure adherence once budget is approved.- Control of planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expenses.Education and Experience:- 12 to 15 years overall IT experience in a broad range of both technical disciplines and business domains with experience in architecture.- 6+ years as an Enterprise Architect in a large enterprise.- A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience as a people manager is required. - A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required; or equivalent; a Graduate Degree is preferred.- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical projects is required.Qualifications:Requirements:-Progressive experience with Development and Solution Architecture leading up to Enterprise Architecture.-Experience in IT consulting, either internal or as a Systems Integrator within the High Tech Industry.-Expertise in technology trends and the relevance to business.-Proven track record driving architecture in a high growth enterprise environment in either application, data or infrastructure domains.-Strong communication skills. The Enterprise Architect role will interact with client business and IT senior management.-Experience with EA methodologies and frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman etc-Experience with service-oriented architecture development and implementation.-Ability to quickly assess both completeness and viability of technology solutions and their long term value-Worked in an environment that integrates Oracle, Siebel, Peoplesoft and SAP. Three out of four is good.-Excellent oral and written communication skills; especially presentation skills.- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.- Excellent knowledge of product lifecycle, tools, processes, and operations planning.- Demonstrated experience working with Information Technology professionals on complex projects.- Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.- Prior experience with developing budgets and controlling costs.- A demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees. - Proven track record of surpassing objectives and delivering exceptional results.
