It's the key to change...empowering people to influence issues, ensuring that knowledge is shared, putting the right resources in the right places to deliver improved performance and success.Job Description Direct the Americas Compensation organization in the design, modification, implementation, and administration of Compensation programs, practices and policies.    Provide leadership and counsel to management on the implementation, use and ongoing modification of Compensation/Rewards work.  Work with staff to hire, reward, develop and counsel employees. Key Responsibilities: Direct compensation related operations for the Americas. Ensure programs are aligned to country needs and that country laws are adhered to regarding compensation and related systems.  Direct the review and ensure legality of materials and changes to country reward programs.  Ensure annual or appropriate reviews are completed to ensure compliance.  Provide consultation and insight to Human Resources (HR) and Managers regarding the intent and application of programs, practices and policies.  Direct the Americas Center of Expertise (CoE) for:  Salary Structure and Job Pricing.  Coordinate the analysis for the Americas of salary structures, job pricing and salary increase recommendations.  Ensure communications, and notifications are completed as required.  Supplemental Pay.  Manage the set up of country pay practices.  Annually review the use of SPP's and create a summary describing areas for additional focus; ensure interaction with benchmarking to identify issue and trends Variable Pay.  Manage and Americas interaction with the global Variable Pay team.  Focus on providing the best solutions for America’s employees.  Provide insight and guidance to the team as required; keep focus on primary goal of program; look for way to constantly make the process better. Support the annual Focal Point Review process.  Lead education of managers and HR.  Provide resources to support the global CoE.  Ensure Americas issues are addressed in the FPR tool and related processes. Support the on going global Job Architecture reviews and provide guidance into appropriate use tools and processes. Support MADO work for the Americas consulting with the team to ensure appropriate integration of new employees into HP programs and practices. Direct the development, use and content included in the Americas and country Compensation Web sites.  Ensure appropriate information is available regarding country programs.  Ensure review of materials takes place annually.  Responsibility for Americas Compensation BPO.  Manage all work required to support any Compensation transition to the BPO in the Americas.  Direct a staff of mangers and professionals.  Lead the performance - reward process for direct reports.  Provide semi-annual performance results regarding direct and indirect reports.  Set annual and ongoing goals and performance metrics in conjunction with employees.   Identify developmental needs annually and build a well rounded team of compensation professionals; hire new candidates as required.  Counsel and coach employees to improve behavior and performance as appropriate. Manage associated TCoW.  Ensure budgets are reviewed and managed appropriately. Demonstrated record of success as a contributing member of a senior management team in a highly respected, performance management driven, and people focused fast moving company. Experience in a large global company environment and demonstrated ability to create, sell and implement complex programs for change through a regional and business matrixed organizational structure. 10 plus years of HR management and leadership experience with sophisticated organizations to include strong experience in a complex, global corporation and at least 5 years of directly related experience in compensation, benefits, sales and executive compensation. Masters degree in Business Administration/Org Design or other HR related programs preferred. Expertise in acquisitions and divestitures would be a significant advantage, as would strong knowledge of the external marketplace and a strong network of other senior HR leaders working in the same and related fields. In addition to solid technical experience in Compensation, this person must have highly developed influencing skills and the presence to be accepted quickly as a significant resource for the various constituencies served. A thorough understanding of contemporary, effective compensation plans and opportunities, their influence in driving change and performance, as well as the best thinkers and consultants in the field. Especially crucial will be an understanding of the opportunity to effect organizational behavior with compensation, rewards and recognition. Excellent people skills, the ability to effectively direct and manage a team, and have excellent oral and written communication skills as well. Common sense, sound judgment, and a willingness to "roll up your sleeves" to get the job done will also be important. © 2007 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
