EMC SAN Administrator

Provide technical assistance to computer system users, with minimal assistance from more experienced and knowledgeable analysts. The tech responsibilities include the implementation of routine systems, configure network devices, and resolve straightforward network problems. The tech evaluates complicated request for adds, moves, changes and deletes to the data network hardware and software.  The tech responsibility also includes recommending alternative solutions to reduce cost and improve network performance.  The tech’s tasks include following up with the users to ensure that service-levels are maintained and resolve any open issues.  Participates in assessing new technology with network engineers and vendors.  Work under general supervision of supervisor.  

 

- Resolve network outages in a timely mannerly manner.

- Install new hardware and software as required.

- Provide support for network related projects as needed.

- Communicate/Notify staff and other critical bank personal of network related or impacting changes.

- Update and maintain network documentation that includes but is not limited to such as Change Control, trouble tickets, procedures, and general network drawings and documentation, which includes inventory.

- Assist in assessing new network technologies as required.

- Perform nightly backups on all the systems.

- Maintain anti-virus systems.

- Fix issues related to performance / system errors.

This is a 90% hands on position with 10% being project work.

 

Level III position includes:

- Manage network inventory.

- Manage smaller projects related to the network environment.

- Research network related errors and recommend long term fixes.

- Work on escalated tickets from levels I / II.

- Staff training.

- Production implementation of new software, and systems.

- Provide after hour support for production systems.

- Maintain and update change control documentation (SOX).

 

Requirements

- High School Diploma; College Degree preferred.

- MSCE and/or CCNA highly preferred.-

- 3-5 yrs experience in Windows 2003 Network, Systems & LAN Administration; some Project Management experience.

- Background in Disaster Recovery testing and SOX compliance also desired.

- Possess strong customer service skills and a working knowledge of stored procedures.

- Possess strong problem-solving skills and inherent decision-making ability.

- Able to take initiative and be assertive to solve problems. 

- Ability to organize work in an efficient manner and work with more than one project/responsibility at a time.

- Work well under stress and time pressures to meet deadlines.

- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, interact effectively at all levels.

- Work with minimal direct supervision. 

- Accurate typing and data entry skills via PC keyboard

- Ability to lift items up to 30 lbs

 

Salary for level II is 48-55K; level III is 48-63K. Higher salary for Level III would need to have exp. in SOX and DR; and be at a higher level of technical knowledge overall.
