EMC SAN/Linux Systems Administrator
One of the world’s largest supplier of office products, a company with annual revenue of $2 billion, is currently seeking an EMC SAN/Linux Systems Administrator to join its team. This individual will be responsible for a new project to phase out the HP systems and switch over to an EMC environment. The preferred candidate will have experience managing, monitoring, and tuning Linux and Unix systems and will have some experience with WAN/LAN. The focus will definitely be the EMC skills. The ideal candidate will use creativity and expertise to design, install, configure, and support the corporate network and systems to ensure reliability, performance, and data integrity.
Job Requirements:
- Must have EMC DMX 2000 and Clarion CX440 SAN experience- 2+ years.
- Linux and HPUX – 4+ years preferred.
- Networking WAN/LAN routing and switching is a definite plus.
- Bachelor Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications (preferred): Current A+ and Network+ certifications or equivalent experience; Certification or equivalent experience with EMC DMX or Clariion preferred; Certification or equivalent experience with Red Hat Linux ; Citrix Certified Administrator (CCA), CheckPoint Certified Security Engineer (CCSE) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), MCSE, HP/UX Systems Administrator or equivalent certification or experience preferred.
- Must have more than 4 years of experience as a Network Engineer or equivalent experience with design, implementation, configuration, and support of network operating systems, infrastructure, and directory services in a multi-server/multi-site environment.
- Experience in C, shell programming, Csh, sh, PERL experience preferred.
- Must have more than 2 years of design, implementation, configuration, and support of Exchange Server or similar enterprise messaging system environments.
- Must have an expert level understanding of TCP/IP protocol suite (e.g. DNS, SMTP, DHCP, SNMP).
- Citrix Metaframe, firewall, VMWare server and Macintosh experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience with network management, deployment, and monitoring tools such as SMS, Nagios, Ghost, Systems Insight Manager, etc. preferred.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with personnel both within and outside the company. Ability to act as a role model by mentoring and motivating team members to achieve high levels of performance as well as assisting other teammates with project supervision.
- Must have a high level of analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and prompt decision-making ability, responsibility and accountability. This includes having an excellent service and solution oriented focus. Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks independently in fast-paced environment.
- Ability to analyze requirements and make appropriate recommendations. Must also have proven project management skills with the ability to organize resources to meet project deadlines.
- Travel 5-10% per year.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.
- Ability to work occasional extended hours, including either after-hours during weekdays and some weekends as needed. This position will also participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
