ETL Designer-Developer

Job Category: IT/Software Development Relevant Work Experience: 5+ to 7 Years Career Level: Experienced (Non-Manager) Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Job Description We’re seeking an ETL Designer-Developer to join our ETL Group in our Chicago, IL office. RESPONSIBILITIES: • In this position you will be a member of the TransUnion ETL Group responsible for the design and development of ETL oriented applications and solutions.  May work individually, or as a member or leader of project development teams.  • Works with business representatives to identify and document technical/ETL requirements, creates high/low level designs, facilitates/participates in design/code reviews, develops ETL code/scripts, performs unit and integration testing, and conducts knowledge transfer with operational support teams.  • Depending upon experience and interest, the ETL Group member may make significant contributions to the definition of scope as well as influencing the architectural direction of ETL projects using a broad knowledge of the business, existing systems and available technologies.  • Also depending on experience, the role could evolve into a team leadership position where you take responsibility for personal and team technical and professional growth and assist more junior level team members with department procedures, environment, tools, utilities and best practices for ETL using Ab Initio. QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements in general for this position • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline • Depending upon professional level, position requires 2-10 years overall ETL programming experience • Programming skills required.  Must have experience designing complex ETL programs in a UNIX environment • Ab Initio (AbInitio) or other ETL based tool experience (e.g. Informatica, DataStage, etc.) • Database experience with DB2, Oracle, Sybase, or SQL Server • Experience analyzing, architecting, designing complex ETL processes / frameworks (high volume / partitioning preferred) • Experience with full life cycle development efforts using modern software development methodology • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to work with associates at all levels within the organization *To be considered for employment, you must be able to pass a credit and criminal background check.
