Engineer II, Data Center

This position facilitates monitors and troubleshoots multiple technology platforms including mainframes and/or servers. Responsible for stable operations and utilization of information technology resources to achieve service level requirement using documented procedures. Working rotating shifts (2nd and 3rd shifts) and callout as needed are a requirement of this job. Acts as a single point of contact for after hours IS technical support issues and operations activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Proactively monitor and analyze system performance to ensure high availability and throughput; utilize tools and develop scripts and queries to provide system performance statistics.
• Perform tier 2 and 3 technical support consisting of detection, diagnosis and correction of production issues to ensure that all batch process and jobs complete successfully according to schedules for production, development and testing
• Provides technical expertise in complex support problems and recommends programming and development standards/procedures
• Recommend and implement new tools and/or system changes to reduce required manual intervention in monitoring and managing system performance.
• Perform advanced Data Repairs, SQLs and Unix scripted as required
• Proactively and expeditiously identify, diagnose and resolve system problems in order to meet predefined nightly goals and objectives.
• Document, communicate and escalate technical issues and articulate business impact

Required Degree(s), Skills and Experience:
• 1-3 years of Information Technology experience
• Exposure to computer operations, mainframe and open system platforms
• Willingness to work in a team environment and learn new skills and tools as required
• Excellent communication skills/interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a variety of teams and levels of management.
• Must be available for after hour on-call activities

Preferred Degree(s), Skills and Experience:
• 4 year college degree preferably in Information Technology
• Solid understanding of a broad range of computer/network operations concepts and procedures.
• Solid database SQL and Unix scripting skills
• Exposure to overall computer operations with an emphasis on Unix systems, job scheduling tools, along with various windows related packages and monitoring tools.
• Experience with networking, systems support or application development.
